Set a course
One task per voyage.
One task per voyage. Before you set sail, name the single thing you'll row toward.
A boat with no heading drifts. So does an hour with no task.
Naming it before you start halves the urge to wander. When a stray thought shows up mid-voyage, you already know it isn't the heading, so you can let it pass.
Keep it small enough to finish or clearly advance in one voyage. "Draft the intro" beats "write the report".
